Teresa Davenport serves as a Managing Attorney in the Birmingham, Alabama office of Allen & Newman, and has been with the Firm since 2009. Mrs. Davenport graduated from David Lipscomb College where she achieved a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Psychology. She acquired her interest in law from her mother, who was an Inferior Court Justice in Baldwin County. Following college, Mrs. Davenport took one year off from school and lived in Fair Hope, Alabama. Following that year, she attended the University of Alabama School of Law and graduated and became a member of the Bar in 1987.
Mrs. Davenport's first job as a lawyer was in Phenix City, Alabama, at the law office of Jim McKoon and recalls it as a great place for a new lawyer. She practiced in the criminal, civil, domestic, and probate courts in over six Alabama counties; tried two jury trials in her first year of practice; and was in court daily in some form or fashion. She remained in Phenix City for three years and moved to Birmingham in 1993 when her husband was relocated. In Birmingham, Mrs. Davenport worked in Civil Defense with McDaniel, Hall, Conerly and Lusk for three years, and then left to form the law firm of McGarrah & Davenport, P.C., with Scott McGarrah. The two were partners from 1996 to 2009, when they joined Allen & Newman, PLLC.
Mrs. Davenport focuses her practice in the areas of products liability, construction defect, and personal injury. She has an AV Rating with Martindale-Hubbell and was selected for inclusion in the 2013 Martindale-Hubbell Register of AV Preeminent Women Lawyers. In 2018, Mrs. Davenport was awarded the distinct honor of inclusion among America's Top 100 Civil Defense Litigators.
Teresa grew up in Bay Minette, Alabama and spent her summers in Gulf Shores, where she developed a love for the water and outdoor activities. She enjoys working out and running, and has completed a triathlon with hopes to one day also complete a marathon. She is married to Randy Davenport, who is originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and they have two children - a daughter, Randal, who recently completed her Masters in Business Administration at Austin Peay State University, and a son, John Morgan, who graduated from the University of Alabama.
