TN Workers' Compensation Treatment Guidelines

July 13, 2015

The Tennessee Department of Labor has submitted proposed rules related to workers' compensation treatment guidelines that would go into effect on January 1, 2016. The proposed rules discuss the process for determining if a requested procedure is presumed to be medically necessary, the method for physicians getting recommended treatment approved, and limits on the amount of medications that can be prescribed initially. While the proposed rules still allow for utilization review, an appeal will be allowed only in "exceptional situations." A hearing on the proposed rules is set for August 25.

The proposed rules are posted here.
